Katelyn Marie Demelo

New Bedford – Katelyn Marie DeMelo, age 34, of New Bedford passed away after a lifelong battle with her physical health on the early morning of Saturday, August 29th 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Bedford, MA she was the beloved daughter of Jose M. DeMelo and Debbra (Ferro) DeMelo.

Katie, was an extraordinary human being with strong will and resilient energy. Her inner light was so bright even when feeling low on her worst days she still shined. She was truly a warrior in her own league. Anyone who had the opportunity and pleasure to connect with her has been blessed. Katie is now at peace but her vessel remains with us and needs to be put to rest.

She had loved shooting her gun at the gun range and especially loved drag racing with her dad.

Katelyn is survived by her parents, Jose and Debbra DeMelo; her 2 brothers, Derek J. DeMelo and his companion Alexandra Sousa and Michael P. DeMelo; 1 nephew, Michael DeMelo; her very close cousins, Bruce Delano, Christine Delano and Brandon Pacheco. She was also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was the granddaughter of the late Jose and Alice Ferro and Miguel and Cecelia DeMelo.

Katelyn’s visiting hours will take place on Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be Friday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering and to practice social distancing of 6 feet. Attendance will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions.
