Maria Dejesus (Vieira) Pimentel

New Bedford – Maria DeJesus (Vieira) Pimentel age, 83 of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores on March 3, 1937, she was the daughter of Ernesto Vieira and Maria DeJesus (Furtado) Vieira and the beloved wife of the late Ernesto Pimentel.

Faith and family were very important to Maria. She had been a longtime congregant of Mount Carmel Church and the former St. John the Baptist Church. She had taken great pleasure in watching her four granddaughters grow. Maria also enjoyed gardening, cooking, holidays, and most importantly, spending time with family.

Maria is survived by her sons, Joseph Pimental and Michael Pimental and his wife Johanna; her four granddaughters, Amanda Pimental, Nicole Pimental, Avery Pimental and Lianna Pimental; her brother Jose Vieira; her sisters Angelina Nogueira and Maria Cabral as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Maria Olinda Monte.

Maria’s visiting hours and funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning, September 2, 2020. Her visiting hours will take place between 8:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.

All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering and to practice social distancing of 6 feet. Attendance will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions.
