Joao Barbosa

Wareham – Joao Barbosa, age 84, of New Bedford passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at The Tremont Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center. He was the loving husband of Maria A. (Pacheco) Barbosa.

Born in St. Michael, Azores he was the beloved son of the late Antone Barbosa and Gloria (Perreira) Barbosa. He had worked for International Dryer Corp. for many years. Joao loved to play cards, was a big fan of the Sporting Soccer team and had spent his whole life raising rabbits in his free time.

Joao is survived by his wife, Maria; his 2 children, son John Barbosa and daughter Diane Ferreira and her husband George; 5 grandchildren, Mat Barbosa, Sean Barbosa, Monique Ferreira, Lindsey Ferreira and Kelsey Ferreira. He is also survived by his 2 sisters, Cormile Silvia and Maria Jesus Machado.

Joao’s visiting hours will be held Monday evening, August 24, 2020 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral will be held Tuesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.

All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering and to practice social distancing of 6 feet. Attendance may be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions.
