Margaret J. Pires

New Bedford – Margaret J. Pires, age 84, of New Bedford passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Care One at New Bedford. She was the beloved wife of the late Malcolm Pires.

Born in New Bedford, MA she was the beloved daughter of the late Abram and Mary (Oliveira) Silva. After graduating high school, she went on to attend and graduate from Kinyon Campbell Business School. She had worked in the billing and reimbursement department at St. Luke’s Hospital, as well as for several other healthcare agencies in the area.

Margaret had been a lifetime member of the “Friend of the Library”. She loved reading, doing puzzles and also enjoyed watching her family participate in sports.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Karen Ferreira of Acushnet; her 2 sons, Mark Pires and Glenn Pires, both of FL; 3 grandchildren, Michael Pires, Jackie Pires and Anthony Joseph. She was also the sister of the late Lina Silva.

Margaret’s funeral services were private.
