Edward Charles A.K.A. "Charlie Edwards" Avia

New Bedford –Edward Charles Avia a.k.a. "Charlie Edwards", age 77, of New Bedford passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at home. He was the beloved life partner of Nancy A. Ferreira. Born in Northampton County, PA, he was the beloved son of the late Samuel Avia and Rita (Murtha) Avia.

Surviving relatives include daughters, Cindy Musial and Lynn Davis; grandsons, Hayden Musial and Noah Davis.

Edward served in the United States Air Force in the 1960’s and served for four years. He went on to work as an electronics instructor for Silvania and Bay State School of Electronics and Broadcasting for over 20 years. He also helped set up computer centers in many senior complexes.

Charlie also worked as an engineer for WBSM from Pope's Island to Downtown New Bedford to Fairhaven and also was an on-air personality. He also worked as a host of the Talking Music at Shawmut Diner with Phil Paleologas.

Edward’s funeral services will be private due to the recent mandated restrictions in regards to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
