Jaime Davis-Martinez age 57 of New Bedford, MA passed away unexpectedly at St. Luke’s Hospital on March 21, 2020. He was the loving and caring son of Nilda Martinez-Colon and Luis Johnathan Davis-Bonilla. He was also the beloved step-son of the (late) Ruben Colon. He was called and better known to everyone by his childhood nickname (Papin).
Jamie was born in Guayama, Puerto Rico and moved to Boston, MA in 1989 with his family. He also lived in Rhode Island for a few years later relocating to New Bedford where he lived the rest of his life.
Jamie was the kindest, sweetest person you would ever meet. He was very special to many people that came in contact with him. He had the most loving bond with his mom Nilda, she was his whole world. He was always smiling, joking and listening to music at all times of the day or night. For him music was life. He enjoyed having people visiting his home and thought such visits would always lead to a party because he loved people. He also enjoyed watching his favorite TV show (El Chavo) despite this series being from his childhood he would never missed an episode. He thought every episode was the funniest and one he hadn’t seen before despite watching the show every evening.
Jaime woke up every day with a smile on his face ready to attend his favorite place ADH program at Cape Way. He enjoyed his time there a great deal even hoping they were open on Sundays. He never let his disability or difficulties with epilepsy stand in his way. He never saw himself as anyone different than all of us despite the obvious. He also enjoyed attending the Kingdom Hall of JW with his mom due to his amazing faith in God. He will deeply miss along with his contagious smile. We all can learn from him that despite having a disability or being different from others you must never stop smiling or listening to music because to him life was a party.
Survivors besides his parents and step-father include his siblings: sister Nilda David and her husband Eden Montero, sister Ivonne David, sister Maria David-Rodriguez and husband Antonio Rodriguez, sister Miriam David-Rodriguez and her husband Eber Rodriguez, sister Maricel David, brother Marcos Davis, Jonas Davis and his wife Maria Davis and the late Daniel David Martinez. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and step brothers and sisters who loved him dearly.
We can’t forget all the many friends he made at Cape Way for many years. He would also never stop talking about his Case Managers from DDS (Oscar and Roberto) considering his dear friends.
Jaime’s funeral services are private.
