Belmira (Carreiro) Costa

New Bedford – Belmira (Carreiro) Costa, age 100, of New Bedford passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Costa.

Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the beloved daughter of the late Alvaro de Medeiros Carreiro and Rosa (Geraldo) Carreiro. She had been a loving and devoted homemaker to her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Vertentes and her husband Manuel, Maria Pereira and her late husband Manuel, Judy Medeiros and her husband John and Maxima Vertentes and her husband Jose; her sons, Joe Costa and his wife Lydia, Peter Costa and his wife Grace, Gene Costa and his late wife Jane and Joseph Amaral; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Elvita Silva; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Belmira’s funeral services will be private due to the recent mandated restrictions in regards to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during this very difficult time.
