Josefina P. (Dasilva) Soares

New Bedford – Josefina P. (DaSilva) Soares, age 89, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Care One New Bedford. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose S. Soares.

Josefina was born in São Caetano, Pico, Açores to the late Jose Cravo and Maria Leal (Melo) DaSilva. She had worked as a stitcher for Paul Modes and Vanessa Manufacturing for many years. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Irmandade of Pico. Josefina loved to crochet, garden and most importantly, she loved to spend time with her family.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Manuel F. Soares and his wife Digna and Jose E. Soares and his wife Maria J.; 4 grandchildren, Andy, Welby, Jason and Kristina; 1 sister, Liduina Linhares; as well as 10 nephews and nieces.

Josefina’s visiting hours will be held on Tuesday evening, February 11th from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be Wednesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
