Fairhaven – Maria C. (Branco) Silva, age 84, of New Bedford, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Alden Court Nursing Center. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Joao A. Silva.
Maria was born in Murtosa, Portugal to the late Manuel and Mary Joe (Valente) Branco. She had been a loving homemaker to her family.
She is survived by her sons, John Silva and his wife Liz Silva of Dartmouth and Alberto Silva and his wife Kristine Silva of Fairhaven, daughters, Clara Medeiros and her husband David Medeiros of New Bedford and Rosa Potter and her husband Joe Potter of New Bedford; grandchildren, Kennedy Silva, Meredith Silva, John Matthew Silva, James Silva, Adien Potter, Brayden Medeiros and Avery Potter, as well as 2 step-grandchildren, Trevor Golenski and Corey Medeiros.
She is also survived by her brother, Joao Branco, sister, Augusta Lagonha of Murtosa, Portugal, brother, Jose Branco of New Jersey, sister, Maria Rebello of New Bedford, brothers, Manuel Branco, Antonio Branco, Henry Branco and sister, Alice Oliveira, all of New Jersey; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, Luis Branco.
Maria’s visiting hours will be held on Sunday evening, January 26th from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be Monday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
