Phyllis R. Arruda

New Bedford – Phyllis R. (Spiliotis) Arruda, age 86, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife to the late Joseph P. Arruda with whom she shared 51 years of marriage.

Phyllis was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Madeline (Sampson) and John Spiliotis. She had worked as a clerk for Otis Insurance and she was also a caregiver for several years.

She is survived by her children, Janet L. Ferreira and her husband Stephen of Acushnet, Patti A. Marshall and her husband Brian of New Bedford and Susan J. Correa and her fiancé, Brian Ricardo; as well as 3 grandchildren, Shaun Ferreira and his wife Kelly, Madie-Lynn Bourgeois and Benjamin Pereira. She is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Mason, Sophie and Blair. Phyllis was also the mother of the late Steven J. Arruda.

Phyllis’s visiting hours will take place on Tuesday, January 14th from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be on Wednesday, January 15th beginning at 8:00 A.M. in the funeral home and followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
