Carol A. Sylvia

Carol A. Sylvia, 66 of Acushnet passed away at Tobey Hospital on November 21, 2019 after a four year fight with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Beldon and Lorraine (Stokoe) Kizer.

She was the beloved wife of Gary Sylvia, the loving mother of Jessica Sylvia of Acushnet, Jeffrey Sylvia and his wife Sharon of New Bedford. She was also the adored Nana of Kennadeigh Sylvia, Courtney Soares, Timothy Sylvia, Kayleigh Stupalski and the late Jeffrey Sylvia Jr, three sisters Barbara Leger, Jacqueline Beauregard and the late Janet Callier, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close friends who became family Wendi Myers and Thomas Gardener Jr.

Carol attended Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School. She worked as a fashion coordinator and fit model for Kay Windsor in Dartmouth. She also worked as a waitress for Cathay Temple in Mattapoisett and Mansour’s in Freetown. Carol’s love of fashion led her to one of her greatest accomplishments, owning “Leightons” dress shop in Padanaram Village in South Dartmouth. Carol had so many things she loved to do such as spending time with family, trips to Roseland Nursery to get flowers for her gardens that she enjoyed and took pride in, traveling to the mountains, relaxing country rides and decorating for the holidays. She was well known for her cooking and baking skills. Everyone loved her apple pie. She especially loved her role as Nana.
She was a beautiful person inside and out. All who loved her dearly will never forget her charm, wit, strength and her endless love for them. She never let her illness defeat her and showed us all how much of a fighter she was.
