Maria C. Sousa

Dartmouth – Maria C. Sousa, age 75, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth surrounded by her family.

Maria was born in St. Michael, Azores to the late Antonio and Georgina (Cabral) Raposo. She came to this country in 1978 where she worked as a machine operator for Nu Tex for many years until her retirement.

She is survived by 1 son, Robert Sousa and his fiancé Betsy Ann Pinho of New Bedford; 1 brother, Manuel Raposo; 2 sisters, Natalia Branquinho and Maria do Rosario Raposo both of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren, Kevin Sousa, Austin Sousa and Nathan Sousa all of New Bedford; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Antonio Raposo.

Maria’s visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening, November 5th from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Her funeral will be on Wednesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
