Clara Carvalho - Beloved wife and mother. Clara was born in Joao Bom, Bretanha, Sao Miguel, Acores and immigrated to New Bedford, MA in 1952. She naturalized soon afterward and took great pride in being an American.

Clara worked in the New Bedford and Fall River textile industry until her retirement. A brilliant and exceptional seamstress, she worked her way to management positions and was known for her work ethic, precision, and detail.

In recent years, she was an active participant in the Brandon Woods Adult Day Health Program.

Clara was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Antone D. Carvalho and son, Robert A.Carvalho. She is survived by her daughters, Lynne, New Bedford, MA, Michelle, Pembroke, NH/Cuttyhunk, MA, and Keith, Mashpee, MA. She is also survived by one sister, Natalie Cardoza, New Bedford, MA, and two brothers, Antonio Pavao (spouse Carol), Fairhaven, MA,and Jose Pavao (spouse Sharon), New Bedford, MA and her sister-by-marriage, Janice Pavao, Rochester MA.

Clara’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 4th from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be Thursday morning, beginning in the funeral at 9:30 A.M. and followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
