Maria I.(Freitas) Silveira

New Bedford – Maria I. (Freitas) Silveira who died unexpectedly January 15, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of Francisco Silveira. She was the mother of Maria E. Borges and her husband Jose of New Bedford, and Maria F. Condez and her husband Jose of Dartmouth. She was the sister of Filomena Pascoal of South Dartmouth,MA., and the late Eduino Dutra and Maria da Silveira. Survivors included 3 Grandchildren Lisa Borges, Susan Delgado and her husband Jose, and Matthew Borges. 4 Great-Grandchildren Caitlin, Kelsie, Timothy, and Andrew. Numerous Nieces, and Nephews, and several Sister-in-Laws Maria E. de Freitas, and Leonor Freitas both of Rhode Island, Maria A. Dutra and Fatima Freitas of Canada, Filomena de Freitas of CA., and a Brother-in-Law Antonio Freitas and his wife Valentina of CA.

She was the daughter of the late Jose Da Rosa Freitas and Maria Tomazia (Dutra) Freitas. She was born in Faial, Azores. She was a winder at the Acushnet Company until her retirement.

Mrs. She was a Communicant of St John The Baptist Church and belonged to the Holy Rosary Society. She loved to pray and go to Mass. She also enjoyed going to see friends at the senior citizens center, crocheting, crafts, and especially gardening.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday January 19, 2006 at St John the Baptist Church at 9:00 A.M. Visiting hours will be Wednesday January 18, 2006 from 5 to 9 P.M. at The Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St.
