New Bedford– Olivia (Moniz) Couto, age 98, of Dartmouth, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Hathaway Manor. She was the beloved wife of the late James R. Couto.
Olivia was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Mary (Correia) and John Moniz Lima. During her earlier years, she worked in several textile factories as a stitcher. She enjoyed being with her musical family and singing with them. Olivia was a wonderful, loving, kind and caring mother and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Dolores Westgate and her husband Alfred of N. Dartmouth and Cathy Rock of Ormond Beach, FL; 2 sons, James Couto and his wife Shirley of Westport and Ronald Couto and his wife Janis of Valrico, FL; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; 4 great-step granddaughters; 2 great-step grandsons; brothers, William, Robert and Albert Lima, all of New Bedford; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Stephen Couto, grandmother of the late Lori Westgate and sister of the late John Moniz, Edward and George Lima and Irene Rose.

Olivia’s visiting hours will be held Sunday evening, June 9th from 5:00– 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will take place on Monday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julie Billiart Church at 12:00 P.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
