Silvina (Adriano) Vassal

New Bedford – Silvina (Adriano) Vassal, age 93, of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose M. Vassal.

Silvina was born in Agua de Pau, St. Michael, Azores to Serefim and Ermelinda Medeiros (Machado) Adriano. She had worked at various textile mills including Cornell Dubilier.

She is survived by her 5 sons, John Vassal of Westport, Carlos Vassal of New Bedford, Jose M. Vassal, Antonio Vassal both of So. Dartmouth and Mario Vassal of New Bedford; 3 daughters, Eliza Rebello, Nancy Adriano both of New Bedford and Dorothy Almeida of Acushnet; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Ermelinda Carreiro of New Bedford; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Maria Margarida Martins, the grandmother of the late Derek Vassal and the sister of the late Manuel Medeiros, John Adriano, Lourdes Almeida, Hilda Fumo, Carolina Vieira and Angie Mocco.

Silvina’s visiting hours will be held Friday evening from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 7:15 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 8:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
