Maria Raposo Madeira

New Bedford – Maria Raposo Madeira, age 83, of New Bedford, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home. She was the beloved wife of Antonio Madeira.

Maria was born in Agua de Pau, St. Michael, Azores to Manuel Raposo and Ermelinda (Raposo) Botelho. She moved to this area in May 1981 where she was a loving homemaker to her family. Maria loved spending time with her family and friends, enjoyed cooking and was an amazing cook, she also loved to crochet.

She is survived by her husband, Antonio; son, Emanuel Madeira and his wife, Kelly; grandchildren, Candace Madeira, Erin Nogueira and Emily Foley; 1 great-grandchild, Avien Correia; brother, Jose Raposo; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Maria’s visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
