New Bedford – Joaquim “Jack” Pimentel, age 75, of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family after a long and fulfilling life. He was the beloved son of Eugenia Jennie (Jacintho) Pimentel and the late Joaquim “Jack” Pimentel.
Jack was born and lived in New Bedford all his life. He worked as a longshoreman in New Bedford and Providence for many years.
He is survived by his former wife, Dr. Peggy Pimentel; his 2 children, Drew Pimentel Sr. and his wife, Erin Stevens and Thomas Pimentel and his wife, Makayla Pimentel; 5 siblings, Marie Ramos, Carol Pimentel, Linda Pimentel, Dr. Susan Costa and her husband Tony, and Patricia Pimentel - Galarza; 2 grandchildren, Ayla – Lynn Pimentel and Paityn Zahara; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Thomas Walter Pimentel and grandfather of the late Drew Thomas Pimentel Jr.
Jack’s visiting hours will be held Friday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral will be Saturday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
