Odete (Vagos) Vieira

New Bedford – Odete (Vagos) Vieira, age 65, of Dartmouth, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of José Manuel Costa Vieira.

Odete was born in Ilhavo-Aveiro, Portugal to Jose Dalzizo and Maria Lurdes (Cunha) Vagos. She moved to this area in 1972 where she worked as a seamstress for Sullivan Bros. and Designer One and ultimately finishing her career assembling medical devices for Olin Aegis.

She is survived by her husband, José; sons, Rui Jose Vagos Vieira and his wife, Melissa of Bryn Mawr, PA and Sergio Rafael Vagos Vieira of Quincy, MA; grandchildren, Benjamin and Charlotte Vieira.

Odete’s visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be Monday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.

Flowers are acceptable or a donation can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Odete’s name.
