Maria Silva

New Bedford – Maria (Raposo) Silva, age 90, of New Bedford passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Pavao Silva and the daughter of the late Manuel Jachinto and Maria da Conceicao (deMedeiros) Raposo.

Maria was born in Mosteiros, St. Michael, Azores and lived in this area for many years. She worked as a factory worker at local textile factories for many years until her retirement.

She is survived by her; children, Joao daSilva and his wife, Natalia of Dartmouth, Mario Silva of New Bedford, and Emmanuel Silva of Dartmouth as well as 5 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, and 4 great-granddaughters. Maria was also the mother of the late Francisco Silva.

Maria’s visiting hours will be held Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:45 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:45 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John Cemetery.
