New Bedford – Antonio Silveira Maciel, age 79, passed away at home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Maria Idalina (Garcia) Maciel and the son of the late Joao Silveira and Jacinta da Gloria (Jorge) Maciel.
Antonio was born in Pico, Azores and had worked as a machinist for Cornell Dubilier/Aerovox.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; son, Anthony (Tony) G. Maciel and his wife, Elizabeth; grandchildren, Owen F. Maciel, Whitney F. Maciel and Quinn F. Maciel; brother, Jose S. Maciel; as well as, several sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, a godchild and his very special canine friend, Bella. He was also the brother of the late Manuel S. Maciel, João S. Maciel and Francisco S. Maciel.

Antonio’s visiting hours will be held Friday evening between 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral services will be held Saturday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 8:45 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:45 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
