Jose G. Borges Sr.

New Bedford – Jose G. Borges Sr. (Sapata) age 66, of New Bedford, passed away on, May 29, 2018 unexpectedly at home. He was the beloved husband of Maria Connie (Claudio) Borges of New Bedford and son of the late Maria Acencao (Amaral) and Clemento Borges.

He was born in Nordeste, St. Michael, Azores and moved to this area in 1968. Jose worked as a fisherman on the Blue Gold Mussel Boat and the Elizabeth Nicky. He was also the owner of the Sapatinha Café in New Bedford.
Survivors include; his wife, Maria; children: Elizabeth M. Borges, Lynn M. Borges and Jose G. Borges Jr. and his wife Erlinda; grandchildren: Raheem, Kirk, Darnessa, Destiny, Janessa, Kasandra, Jason, Jensen Jayleana and Jose III; great grandchildren, Nyzelle, Nadya and Janiel; sibling: Maria Delia Simas.

Jose’s visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral service will be on Monday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 7:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church at 9:00A.M.
