Florida – Gary M. Alfonso of Seminole, FL and formerly of New Bedford passed away on April 26th 2018 at his home surrounded by his loved ones after a short battle against cancer. He was the son of the late Joseph C. and Lucille (Quintin) Alfonso as well as the father of the late Randall (Randy) Alfonso. He was born and raised in New Bedford before relocating to Seminole, FL in 2006.
Gary was employed by Lincare Inc. as a Senior Service Tech for 10 years. Prior to that, he worked for Logo Athletics for 20 years. He loved his Boston Red Sox and New York Giants. While living in New Bedford, he spent his free time giving back to the area baseball leagues by umpiring and coaching.
Gary loved spending time with friends and family, as well as, playing cards with Stephan and Jen Aykroyd and Dave and Tracy Brown. Most of his enjoyment came from spending time with his grandchildren.
His survivors include; his wife of 32 years, Elinor (Delano) Alfonso; his son, Kyle Alfonso and wife, Jocelyn of New Bedford, MA; his daughter, Amie Alfonso of Seminole, FL; sister, Diane Hillhouse and husband, Roy of Seminole, FL; brother, Steven Alfonso and companion, Chirstine of Rhode Island. Gary also leaves behind, 7 grandchildren and several godchildren along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gary’s visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 12th between 5:00-8:00 P.M. His funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 13th at 10:00 A.M. at St. Lawrence Church, 100 Summer Street, New Bedford, MA. Burial will be private.
