New Bedford – Louise M. Cook (Vieira) of New Bedford, passed away in her home on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the age of 59. She is the daughter of the late Jose DeMelo and Maria Adelina (Moniz) Vieira.
She was born on the Portuguese island of Sao Miguel, Azores and came to the United States in 1969 with her family. Louise graduated from New Bedford High School and Kinyon-Campbell business school, where she studied to be a CPA. She dedicated over 20 years of her life caring for patients as a CNA. In 2016, she became a naturalized citizen of the United States of America. She enjoyed cooking, reading, tending to family matters, and loved having coffee with her friends, Ruth, Angie, and Lolly.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Aviles and her husband David of Kissimmee, FL; Steven Cook of Boston; stepdaughters Michelle Swansey of Spring Hill, FL; Bridgitte Cook of New Bedford; her former husband Steven Cook; her beloved grandchildren Brett Bourgeois; Kane Andrews; Janise, Davin, and Delisha Gonzalez; Evan and Aniah Cook; and great-granddaughter London.
She is also survived by her siblings John Vieira and his wife Stella of Taunton; Goretti Medeiros and her husband Antonio of Freetown; Ana Medeiros and her husband Gilberto of New Bedford; Christina Almeida of New Bedford; Susan Soares and her husband Raul of New Bedford; and sister-in-law, Fatima Vieira. She was also the sister of the late Jose M. and Nelson D. Vieira; and the aunt of the late Ryan Medeiros.
Her visiting hours will be Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held during visiting hours.
