Maria Fatima Couto

Dartmouth – Maria Fatima Couto, age 68, of South Dartmouth, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. She was the wife of the late Manuel Carlos Couto and the daughter of the late Jose and Odilia (Amaral) Alexandre.

Maria was born in Ribeira Quente, St. Michael, Azores and moved to this area in 1978. She had worked as a seamstress for Cliftex Corp. and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

She is survived by her sons, Paul Couto of New Bedford and Rui Couto and his wife, Stephanie of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Alexander Couto, Thomas Couto and Aiden Couto; brothers, Jose Alexandre and his wife, Helena of Acushnet and Manuel Alexandre and his wife, Bibiana of new Bedford; sister, Rosa Jeronimo and her husband, Carlos of Winnipeg, Canada; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Maria’s visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be Friday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
