Hortensia (Abreu) Garcia

New Bedford- Hortensia (Abreu) Garcia, aged 88 years, passed away November 4, 2005, at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late Francisco D. Garcia. She was the mother of Manuel G. Garcia, Francisco H. Garcia of Dartmouth MA., Maria H. Martin, Maria L. Vieira of New Bedford Ma,. She was the sister of Anina Abreu Silva, Umbelina Abreu Silva, Mariana Amaral, Filomena Santos all form New Bedford MA., Mrs. Garcia was the sister of the late Helena Furtado, Marquinha Gomes and Jose Patricio.

Mrs. Garcia was born in Faial, Azores, Portugal. She was the daughter of the late Pedro Silva and Otilia Abreu. She was a Stitcher for the Local Dress Factories. She belonged to the Our Lady of Mt.Carmel Society, the Holy Rosary Society of Mt. Carmel Church. Also she like crochet, sew and knit.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Monday November 7 , 2005 at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 9 P.M., on November 6, 2005 at the Perry Funeral Home.
