Walter D. Collins

New Bedford– Walter D. Collins, age 90 of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2018 at The Oaks of New Bedford. He was the beloved son of the late Sarah Irene (Dykes) and James E. Collins.

Walter was born in Charleston, South Carolina and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He worked as an engineer for Collins Engineering, where he was also the proprietor. He was also a member of the Shriners.

He is survived by his children, Darcy Boucher of Dartmouth, Darby Haskell and her husband, Barry, Daryl Collins of New Bedford and Darlene of Florida; 6 grandchildren, Wade, Brett, Nathan, Shane, Tyler and Gavin; 3 Great grandchildren, Kolby, Trace, and Trent stepbrother, James Edward Collins II of South Carolina. He was also the father of the late Dawn Whitsall.
