New Bedford – Ronald Perry, age 83 of New Bedford, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Bernice (Gonsalves) Perry and the son of the late Rose (Sylvia) and Bernard Perry.
He is survived by his wife: Bernice, children:Cheryl, Kim, Kelley, Jackie, Scott, Craig, Ronald R. and the late Jay Stephan. Grandchildren Ryan, Brandon, Ian, Jonathan, Brittany, Brianna and his great granddaughter Olivia Grace. He was also the brother of the late Donald, Arnold and John Perry.
Ronald was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who served in the Korean War from 1951-1955, his medals include National Defense Service , Korean Service, U.N. Sevice and Good Conduct. He spent two years in Okinawa, Japan, upon discharge he joined the Merchant Marines from 1957-1964, sailed S.I.U. union Great Lakes and S.U.P. out of California.
Ronald owned Ron’s Painting for over thirty years retiring in 1998, he joined the Painters Union Local 691 in 1964 -1988 where he was elcted President in 1974 and held that position for 12 years until 1987, he was also elected Trustee for Health and Welfare Fund from 1977-1987 and retired from the Union in 1988. And was a member of the American Legion Post 459 Moby Dick. His hobbies include Golf which he played for over 25 years, Cards at the Fairhaven Varsity Club, playing Poker, Gin, Hearts, he also enjoiyed going to Foxwoods, Cooking and spending time with his dog Tiger taking him for rides.
Ronald’s Burial will be private.
