Bernardo Serpa Colon

New Bedford – Bernardo Serpa Colon, age 83 of New Bedford passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 at his home with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Minerva Velasquez and the son of the late Maria (Colon) Sanches and Santiago Serpa Perez.

He was born in Manati, Puerto Rico and has lived in the New Bedford area for the past 32 years. He worked as a professional plumber and also worked in the Housing Department.

He is survived by his wife, Minerva; children, Enith Serpa, Jose R. Serpa and Maria Milagros Arroyo; grandchildren, Melvalis, Jose R., and Jose Luis Serpa, Julio R. and Marc A. Linares, Faith A. and John M. Serpa, Alberto, Doris and Franky Miranda; great grandchildren, Lilianet, Elijah, Tyler and Tian Serpa, Desmen and Anais Cruz and Denser Molina; daughter in law; Ana Ogando Serpa; siblings, Agapito, Lydia, Mercedes, Esther, Benedicta, Benicia, Flor, Antonia and Iris Serpa. He was also the brother of the late Elio doro Serpa.

His visiting hours will be held Friday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at the funeral home beginning at 9:00 A.M. with a service to begin at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
