Dartmouth, MA – Vivian B. Mello passed away peacefully of a broken heart on Monday, July 3, 2017 at home with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Johnny, her life was not the same without him.
She was born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Frank P. Santos and Mary Scott. She was the sister of the late Eileen (Mickey) Costa.
Vivian was employed as a Presser in various garment shops until her retirement.
She is survived by her sons; John G. (Jack) Mello III and Randall (Randy) Mello and his partner, Nancy Mahoney, who Viv loved as a daughter. All are from Dartmouth.
She is also survived by her grandchildren; Meghan E. Mello and her partner, Scott Bolton of Seattle, WA, Riley John Mello and his partner, Ashley Payne and Sadie Mae Mello, also from Dartmouth.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own children; Ernest Costa, Lois Obusek, David (Bushman) Costa, Janis Hoffman and Gary Costa, all from Florida.
Vivian’s greatest joy was spending time with and caring for her children and grandchildren. When her grandchildren were around, her face would light up with love and joy that is indescribable. Simply put, she was the kindest, most selfless person you would ever know. A true soul of a person.
In memory of Vivian, if you can, compliment someone you admire, help someone who is in need and don’t hesitate to tell those you care about that you love them while you still can.
