Maria Lourdes Ponte

New Bedford — Maria Lourdes Ponte, age 78 of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at St Lukes Hospital. She was wife of the late Manuel Ponte and the daughter of the late Palmira A. (Cavaco) and Joaquim M. Sousa.

Maria was born in Quarteira Algarve, Portugal and has lived in New Bedford since 1974. She worked as a stitcher for many years.

She is survived by her son Carlos DaPonte of New Bedford a granddaughter Kristina DaPonte of New Bedford and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be Thursday at Perry Funeral Home at 8:00 A.M. followed by her funeral mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 5-7 P.M. For online condolences go to www.perryfuneral.com
