Maria C. Cabecinha

New Bedford – Maria C. Cabecinha, age 88, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. She was the loving wife of the late Joao de Medeiros Cabecinha and the daughter of the late Herculano Moniz Telheiro and Maria (do Rosario) Telheiro.

Mrs. Cabecinha was born in Santa Cruz Lagoa in St. Michael, Azores and moved to this country on September 16, 1976. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and spending time with her beloved cats.

She is survived by her 4 children: Maria Jose Borges and her husband Eduardo of New Bedford, Joanna Carvalho and her husband Antonio of New Bedford, Maria da Conceicao Kollars and her husband Michael of No. Carolina, Joao Leonardo Cabecinha of New Bedford; 7 Grandchildren: Natasha, Tony, Melissa, Diana, Eduardo Miguel, Jessica and Joao; 6 Great-Grandchildren; Siblings: Conceicao, Jose, Manuel, Rosaria, Herculano as well as several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be Wednesday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to take place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M.
