Boston –Julio “Duke” DeGrace, age 59, of Hyannis, died Friday, August 12, 2005 at Spaulding Hospital in Boston. He was the husband of the late Rose (Andrade) DeGrace. Mr. DeGrace is survived by two sons: Derrick Grace of Mashpee and Julio”Little Duke” Pires DeGrace of Malden, and two daughters Graciann Santos of Mattapoisett and Darla Pires DeGrace of Revere. He was the stepfather of Martin, Curtis, Miguel, Colleen, Desiree and Jessee Littleton. He was the brother of Steven, Douglas and David Grace all of New Bedford, and brother of the late George, John, Bernard, Thomas, Samuel, and Patricia Thomas, and Julia Grace Barboza and Cheryl Grace Owen. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren: Ja Kyrah Pires and Julio Pires, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. DeGrace was born in Harwich, MA., the son of the late Julio and Charlotte (Piper-Pocketnett) Grace, and lived in this area most of his life. He was formerly worked at Shorey Mfg. as a laborer, and was previously a councilor for New Bedford Social Services.
His funeral will be Friday, August 19, 2005 from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 9:30 A.M. with services beginning at 10 A.M. Burial will be in the Old Indian Cemetery in Mashpee, MA. Visiting hours are Thursday, August 18, 2005 from 5 – 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
