Joao Carlos Madeira

New Bedford – Joao Carlos Madeira, age 58 of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the son of the late Jose M. and Maria Amelia (Pereira) Madeira.
Mr. Madeira was born in St. Michael, Azores and, after moving to this country in 1980, worked as a machine operator for local construction companies for many years until his retirement.

He was a longtime musician in the Portuguese community known for his accordion playing and was a member of the band called Image.

His family includes 4 children: Kaiya, Jason, Kendra and Dianne Madeira; granddaughter: Ami-marie Linhares; 5 siblings: Maria A. Carreiro, Maria F. Almeida, Victoria P. Madeira, Berta P. Soares and the late Jose M. Madeira; as well as several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be Wednesday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to take place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M.
