New Bedford – Donald F. Clattenburg, age 91, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at his home. He was the loving husband of the late Jean (Clattenburg) Clattenburg and the son of the late Ernest and Helen Clattenburg.
He was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, lived most of his life in this area and worked as a Commercial Fisherman for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the New Bedford Fisherman Union.
Seaman 1st class Donald Clattenburg proudly served our country in the United States Navy during WWII.
He is survived by 3 children: Diane Roy and her husband, Mark of New Bedford, Florence Clarke and her husband, Ken of Simcoe, Ontario, Canada and George H. Clattenburg and his wife, Karen, of Acushnet; grandchildren: Michael Roy, Tina Greenwood, Carin Clark and Bradford Clattenburg; great granddaughter, Ria Clarke; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by several siblings.
His funeral will be Friday beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. with a service to begin at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
