Alice Vardo

New Bedford – Alice Vardo, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at St. Lukes Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Ernest M. Vardo Sr..

A lifelong resident of this area, Mrs. Vardo was the daughter of the late Rene and Mary (Harold) Lacombe. She worked for Aerovox for many years, then was employed by Brandon Woods of Dartmouth in the Laundry Department until her retirement.

Her surviving family includes son James Vardo , husband of Denice; daughter Sandra Vardo, wife of Julie; sister Patricia Amaral, wife of Anthony, five grandchildren: James, Jason, Joshua, Ashley and Ernie Jr., and four great grandchildren: Michael, Caydin, Juliana and Jaydin. She was also the mother of the late Ernest M. Vardo Jr. as well as aunt to several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday September 30 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church. Burial of her cremains will follow in St. John Cemetery. Those who would like to attend are asked to meet directly at church. Visiting hours are omitted. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, will be scheduled for a future date.
