Jose J. Galinha, Sr.

New Bedford – Jose J. Galinha Sr., age 64 of New Bedford, died on Friday, September 16, 2016 at home with his family by his side. Mr. Galinha was the son of the late Evaristo P. and Engracia (Pires) Galinha.

Mr. Galinha was the father of Kevin Galinha, husband of Kelly of N.Dartmouth, Karen Galinha of New Hampshire, Joseph J. Galinha Jr., husband of Heather of New Hampshire, and Ashley and Grace Galinha both of Fairhaven, 11 grandchildren, and companion of Robyn DaRosa of New Bedford.

He was the brother of the late Evaristo Pacheco.

Jose was born in St. Michael, Azores and lived in this area since the 1970’s. He worked as a driver for M & B’s Fisheries and was the owner of JG Seafood. He was also a member of the Portuguese Sports Club.

Mr. Galinha’s funeral will be Wednesday beginning in the funeral home at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church to begin at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday evening from 5 - 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
