Maria Dejesus (Estacio) Sousa

New Bedford - Maria deJesus (Estacio) Sousa died Thursday, July 28, 2005, at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late Pedro N. Sousa. Survivors included three daughters: Maria Mendonca of Vancouver, B.C., Connie Sousa and Ines Pacheco both of New Bedford; one son: Jose Sousa of New Bedford; one sister: Adelaide Armas of Portugal and two brothers: Antonio Estacio of Canada and Larry Estacio of Lowell, MA.. Mrs. Sousa is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Maria Celeste Silva.

Mrs. Sousa was born in Flores, Azores, the daughter of the late Lauriano and Maria Conceicao (Silveira) Estacio. She has lived in this area since 1973. Mrs. Sousa was formerly employed as a packer at Frionor until her retirement.

Her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 1, 2005 at 11 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday, July 31, 2005 from 5 -9 P.M. and Monday, August 1, 2005 at 10 A.M. at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St..
