Joao L. Tavares

New Bedford – Joao L. Tavares, age 65, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in Salga, St. Michael, Azores; the son of Luis and Maria C. (Silva) Tavares, Mr. Tavares came to this country in 1970 and worked as Landscaper for Raposo Landscaping.

Mr. Tavares enjoyed crabbing and fishing but most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children: Susan P. Correia and her fiancé, Marco DaCosta; and Kevin Tavares, all of New Bedford; 2 grandchilden: William Correia and Sabrina Botelho; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Joao was predeceased by his sister, Laura Verdinho.
