Sergio Borges

New Bedford – Sergio Borges, age 49, passed away on Tuesday August 9, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of Julieta (Ventura) Borges and the son of Virginio and Maria (Araujo) Borges.
Sergio was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and, after moving to this country, worked as a Cutter in the Shawmut Mills. Sergio was also a huge Cowboys fan.
He is survived by his wife, Julieta Borges of New Bedford, his parents, Virginio and Maria Borges, daughter, Amy Borges; 4 siblings: Joe Borges and his wife, Maria, of New Bedford; Maria Borges of New Bedford, Robert Borges and his wife, Carla, of Florida; and Elisabeth DaSilva and her husband, Rick, of Dartmouth; nephews: Ethan DaSilva, Jason Borges, Joey Borges; a niece, Magan Iria; as well as several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He is predeceased by his niece, Monica Iria.
His funeral will be Friday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
