Alice Ferro

Alice Ferro, age 93 of New Bedford, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Alden Court Nursing Home after a long illness. She was the loving wife of the late Jose F. Ferro and the beloved daughter of the late Antonio and Mercedes (Soares) Pacheco.

A lifelong resident of this area, Alice worked as a Seamstress and was the proprietor of Copper Kettle Restaurant for over a decade.

She is survived by her 5 children: Mary A. Gracia and her husband Kenneth; Dora C. Delano of New Bedford; Joe Ferro and his wife, Kimberly, of New Bedford; Debbie R. DeMelo and her husband, Jose and Kenneth D. Ferro of North Dartmouth. She leaves behind many loving family members including 11 grandchildren (Lynne, Christine, Lisa, Bruce, Jason, Ruby, Derek, Michael, Katelyn, Kenneth and Angela); 3 sisters (Irene Vieira, Dorothy Mello and Cecelia Farias); 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are Thursday evening from 5 - 8 P.M. Her funeral will be Friday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
