NEW BEDFORD – Adeline “Addie” Tsimprea, 97 years old died at St. Luke’s Hospital on June 18, 2016, She was the widow of Louis Tsimprea and daughter of the late Marcolino J. and Mary (Borba) Ponte and sister of the late George M. Ponte. She was born and raised in New Bedford, attended local schools and received her accreditation in accounting from the former Campbell Business School.
During World War ll, she was a United States Government employee for the Army Division of the Chemical Warfare Service. After the war, she worked at the downtown offices of the former Lincoln Department Store, Cherry and Webb Credit Office, New Bedford Chamber of Commerce, and the International Ladies Garment Union. In 1964 she was employed by the New Bedford Housing Authority becoming an Accountant for the agency for 34 yrs and retiring in July 1998 at the age of 79.
Her greatest joy was the ocean: the beaches, swimming and boating. She was an animal lover, feeding any stray that would appear in her yard and there would always be filled bird feeders in her yard. She was also an avid reader. Mrs. Tsimprea was an active member of the Daughters of Isabella until the time she started to raise a family.
She is Survived by three daughters, Dr. Gail Marie Tsimprea of Lincoln, Cheryl Anne Tsimprea and Lorna Marie Tsimprea both of Dartmouth: four Granddaughters, Jessica Tsimprea Maluch and her husband Thilo, and great grandson Alexander Louis Maluch, Ashlie Tsimprea Swallow, Kara Tsimprea Swallow, and Janna Tsimprea and her fiancé Eli Easty: a sister in law Joann Ponte of Nantucket, a Goddaughter, a Godson, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her long time dear friends, Dr. Francine M. Benes, Mrs. Helen Vanson, Mrs. Lydia Enos, and Mr. and Mrs. John Florio.
In accordance with her wishes, the funeral , at St Julies Church , Dartmouth , was private. Arrangements were made by Perry Funeral Home.
