Dana Boyne Haywood

Dana Boyne Haywood died July 4, 2005 unexpectedly at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the Father of Dana James Haywood and Damarr Ivan Costa Haywood both of New Bedford. He was the brother of Shawn Haywood of Fitchburg, MA., Kim Haywood of Lynn, MA., and Derek Haywood of Centerville, VA. He was the Loving Companion of Amee Lynn Surprenant of New Bedford. He also leaves a Niece and a Nephew.

Mr. Haywood was the son of Freddie Haywood of Virginia and Denise (Costa)-Haywood of New Bedford. He was a long shore man on the New Bedford Waterfront. He was a member of the South Central Neighborhood Association, He was forming the Citywide Neighborhood Alliance. He was the founder and Co-coordinator of the Dana Haywood Basketball League for “Youths to Stop Violence at Monte Park”.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday July 11, 2005 at Our Lady of Assumption Church at a time to be announced. In accordance with his wishes he was cremated. His ashes will be interred with his Grandparents Ivan and Mary (Delgardo) Costa at St. John Cemetery.
