Ines G. Avelar

Ines G. Avelar, age 90 years of Westport, passed away on Wednesday April 27, 2016 at Royal Taber Street Nursing and Rehab Center. She was the loving wife of the late Camilo M. Avelar and the daughter of the late Manuel Goncalves and Maria (Vieira) Do Couto.

Born in Terceira, Azores, Mrs. Avelar came to this country in 1966 and worked as a Seamstress for many years until her retirement.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Celeste Araujo and her husband, Carlos, of Westport and Louise Medeiros and her husband, John, of Dartmouth; 4 grandchildren: Jeffrey Araujo of East Bridgewater, Katelyn Wright of Pawtucket, RI, Joshua Medeiros and Jillian Medeiros both of Dartmouth; 2 great grandchildren: Madison Araujo and Cassidy Araujo; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ines was predeceased by 7 siblings.

Her funeral will be Saturday beginning in the funeral home at 8:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julie Billiart Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday evening from 6 – 8 P.M.
