Elsie C. Silva

New Bedford – Elsie C. Silva, age 90 of New Bedford, passed away on Monday April 18, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Charles O. Silva and the daughter of the late Palmira (Medeiros) and Joseph L. Cabral.
Born in New Bedford she worked as a payroll clerk for Hemingway Transportation for many years. She was also a member of the Mt. Carmel Seniors.
Her family includes 2 children: Maryann O’Brien and her husband Michael of South Dartmouth and Thomas Silva and his wife Deborah of Mattapoisett; 4 grandchildren: Megan Sears, Kris O’Brien, Alison Dzerkacz and Adam Silva as well as 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Elsie was the sister of the late Alfred, Edmund and Louis Cabral.
Her funeral will be Friday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday evening from 4-7 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
