Liliana Bergantim

New Bedford – Liliana Bergantim, age 77 of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday April 5, 2016 at surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late Nicolau Bergantim and the daughter of the late Francisca (Pacheco) and Manuel Azevedo.
Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores she moved to this country in 1973 and worked as a Splicer at Carol Cable for many years until her retirement.
Her family includes 4 children: Maria Bergantim, Alvaro Bergantim, Oliverio Bergantim and his wife Susana and Luis Bergantim and his wife Francesca all of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren: Nicholas, Melinda, Ethan, and Cassandra Bergantim; 9 siblings: Sofia Silva, Teresa Rodrigues, Manuela DeMello, Rosa Farizo, Fernanda Vieira, Jamie Azevedo, Alvaro Azevedo, Luis Azevedo, and Oliverio Azevedo. She was also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Liliana was also the sister of the late Artur Azevedo.
Her funeral will be Monday beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday evening from 5-8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
