Odilia "Dee" (Vital) Bettencourt

New Bedford - Odilia “Dee” (Vital) Bettencourt, died Friday, June 24th at home suurounded by her family. She was the mother of Susan Riley, wife of Shawn Riley of New Bedford; Sherry Bettencourt, wife of Ronald Gobeil of N. Dartmouth and Robert Bettencourt, husband of Kelly Bettencourt of S. Dartmouth. She was the fiancee of Jose Mendonca of New Bedford. Mrs. Bettencourt was the loving grandmother of Dillon and Madison Bettencourt and Cassy Gobeil. She was the sister of the late Maria Manteiga and Julieta Rocha. She is also survived by 2 nieces.

Mrs. Bettencourt was the daughter of Maria (Medeiros) Vital of New Bedford and the late Jose Vital . She was born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal and lived in this area most of her life. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She was a sales associate at J.C. Penney Dept. Store.

Mrs. Bettencourt’s funeral will begin at the funeral home on Monday, June 27, 2005 at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Rivet St, New Bedford; Visiting hours will be Sunday, June 26, 2005 from 5 - 8 P.M.. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery.
