New Bedford – Clotilde Branco passed away on Monday January 4, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of Jose Pacheco Branco and the daughter of the late Maria Augusta (Cabeceira) and Francisco DaRosa. Born in Flamengos, Fayal, Azores, Mrs. Branco moved to this country in 1969 and worked as an Inspector for several local factories until her retirement.

She enjoyed the ocean and was a skilled gardener, everything she touched would bloom, but most of all Clotilde loved to spend time with her family. She was the best mother in the world. She was a devoted Communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and was very dedicated to her faith.

Her surviving family includes a daughter: Maria Clotilde Branco of New Bedford; siblings, Telma Garcia of New Bedford and Francisco Leonel Da Rosa of the Azores; sister in-laws: Emilia Azevedo of New Bedford and Ema Branco Ruivo of Portugal; as well as several nieces, nephews and god-children in New Bedford, Florida, Portugal, Canada and Cambridge, Ma.

Mrs. Branco was predeceased by her son, Jose Pacheco Branco, Jr.; siblings: Maria Albertina da Rosa Freitas, Albertina Fernandes, Lina Dias and Manuel Jose da Rosa

Her funeral will be on Thursday beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
