Maria P. Macedo

New Bedford – Maria P. Macedo , age 87, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday December 26, 2015 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Abraham R. Macedo and the daughter of the late Francisca (DosPassos) and Joao Alves Pita .

Maria was born in Madeira Island and moved to this area in 1955, she worked at Paul Modes as a Seamstress until her retirement.

Her family includes her children: David Pita Macedo and his wife Mary of New Bedford, and Fernanda Johnson and her husband Rick of Dartmouth as well as 4 grandchildren: Jason and his wife Crystal and Heather Macedo and her husband Donnie, and Rachel and Jacob Johnson, 2 great grandchildren: Hayley and Jarrid Macedo and several nieces and nephews. Maria was the sister of the late Agostinha Freitas.

Mrs Macedo’s funeral will be on Wednesday at noon with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 1 P.M.. Visiting hours will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford, MA.
