Norbina C. (Cruz) Costa

New Bedford – Norbina C. (Cruz) Costa, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at home, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Eduino Costa of New Bedford and mother of Eduino Costa, husband of Leonice Costa of Dartmouth; Mario Costa of New Bedford; Fatima Borges, wife of Jose Borges of New Bedford; Maria Vieira, wife of Paulo Vieira of New Bedford; Etelvina Medeiros, wife of Joao Medeiros of New Bedford and John Costa, husband of Lorien Costa of New Bedford. Mrs. Costa is survived by 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of Maria DoCarmo Linhares, Ilda Sousa and Antonio Couto all of New Bedford and Delores Couto of St. Michael, Azores. She was also the sister of the late Maria Carreira and Manuel Couto.

Mrs. Costa was born in Ribeira, Quente, St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Dos Anjos (Cruz) Couto and lived in this area since 1976. She was formerly employed at Cliftex Corp. as a stitcher. She was a communicant of St. John The Baptist Church.

Mrs. Costa’s funeral will be Friday, June 3, 2005, from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Church, New Bedford, MA. Visiting hours will be Thursday, June 2, 2005 from 5 – 9 P.M. Burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery.
